Lovick Pierce, Jr.

Lovick "Dock" Pierce, Jr. was the son of the Methodist Bishop, George Foster Pierce, and a successful merchant in Sparta. He was superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school and president of the board of trustees of the Sparta Academy. In addition, he had been president of the commission to rewrite the ordinances for the city of Sparta in 1884. Finally, he was chosen by David Dickson as one of three trusted men who witnessed the signing of Dickson's will.
