Obituary

Mrs. Lillie S. Lewis of 3677 Linton Road Sparta, Ga passed away July 7, 2018 at a local hospital.She lived life to its fullness. Mrs. Lillie lived to be 100 years of age. She graduated from Springfield A&I and Georgia State College in Savannah, Georgia with a B.S. degree in Home Economics. She was married for 51 years to the late Marvin E. Lewis Sr. and they had four children, Sheila, Lela, Marvin Jr., and Denise; six grandchildren, Nicky, Zanetta, Gui, Ryan,Ian , and Tiffany and seven great grandchildren; Nicholas, Kayla, Keino II, Keiton, Zoie, Rylan and Gavin. Two sisters Tennie Henderson 103 years of age Julia Williams 98 years of age both of Sparta, Ga. 

Lilie taught 35 years in the Greene County and Hancock County School Systems. Coaching basketball was her passion and her teams dominated throughout her career. She coached the only girls basketball team from Hancock County that won a first place state championship.

Lillie was very active in the Savannah State Alumni Association, the National Heart Association, the National Cancer Society, and in her church, where she was a deaconess.

Preceeded in death by her Parents: Father, Pelham Skrine, and Mother, Azielee Latimore ; Brothers: Robert Skrine, Clabon Skrine and Louie Skrine.

Services will be held at Springfield Baptist Church Saturday July 14,2018 at 11 a.m., Sparta, Ga. Interment will be held in the family cemetery across the street in front of the church. Mrs. Lewis will lie in state at 10 a.m.. Public viewing is Friday July 13, at Noon until 5 p.m. . Family will receive friends and family on Friday July 13, 2018 between the hours of 7 p.m. -  8 p.m. in Ingram Brothers Chapel.
