Inscription and Notes:
Rev. F. L. Brantley obituary (Union Recorder, Sept. 23, 1884)
The death of this gentleman was not unexpected, for he had been seriously ill for many months from a stroke of paralysis and a more recent one, which terminated in death. Mr. Brantley was a minister of the Gospel and when opportunity offered to be useful in his high calling, he was ready and willing to serve. He is well known to our people, as an upright, good man. He married a sister of Capt. Conn of this city, and leaves a widow and several children to mourn the loss of a good husband and parent.
For many years he was the traveling agent of the Augusta Chronicle & Constitutionalist, and did his work successfully.
He died on Sunday night. The funeral will take place this (Tuesday) morning at 9-1/2 o'clock, from the Methodist church, and his remains will be deposited in our city cemetery.
