A deed in the possession of the Hicks family shows that the acre of this cemetery was transferred from Amanda Vaughn and E. V. Keith to Simon and Susan Hicks in 1896. This transfer was done to provide Willis Hicks, who had been killed by the Dummy (train), a burial place, since the Rose-Little Cemetery was not available for Black persons' burials at that time.
At one time Hicks Mission CME Church was on the southeast corner (which is the front part facing Log Cabin road) of the cemetery property.
Information above provided by the Hicks family.
